Yeah. I've been asked this unexpected question out of the blue from one of my roomate about 8 years ago. Err what? "Why the hell you ask this silly and obvious question? Of course, 98% masturbated, while the rest 2% are liar". Yeah, back then i'm the 2% because of sentiment influence and social desirability bias (but hell how could i possibly know about it if i never exposed in porn or done it practically?). Somehow, i really wanna know why do he ask this. But unfortunately he's already back to his hometown before i've got a chance to ask him.
But i do understand that when someone among of our friends asked this or something "darker" and deeper than average, he or she perhaps wanna pave the way of friendship into whole new level or more deep. He or she wanna feel intimated connected and feel carefree to be open and honest on something that we barely dare to speak out loud.
What i could advice to all my friends is when someone goes into an "awkward" conversation, take it seriously. If it's a joke matter, then make it as suit as its condition. You know, how hard they suppress their shame just to be open and honest. It's like he or she proposing you to become bestie or into more chemistry in relationship. So, if you want to reject him or her, do it nicely. If you accept their "rings", then treat him or her nicely.
But, if he or she going something "deviant" like sexual relationship or something bad like using you for his or her gain or just being a bullshit, then it's your decision and it's on how you judge him or her.
