The Meaning Of Al-Muhaymin (المُهَيْمِنُ)

Ism al-Fāʿil (active participle) from the verb word Haymana (هَيْمَنَ). It means :

(a) If praying Muslim is Haymana, they say "Amin"

(b) If the bird or winged creature is Haymana, it flapping its wings

(c) If someone is Haymana over something, he superintend** something.

So, if you refer to Allah, then He is The Foremost Superintendent.

Some linguistic scholar said al-Muhaymin is asy-Syāhid, which is The Foremost Witness. Also, He is keeping the other from fear.

Abu Maʿsyar said al-Muhaymin is the trusted keeper. Some said the governer of His creation.

**The original meaning is controlling, observing and guarding it. I think the "superintend" is constituting the overall meaning for this. Superintend means :

-to undertake the direction or supervision (of); manage [Collins : In BiritshEnglish]

-to be in charge of an activity or job and to check that it is done correctly [Macmillan]

-to have or exercise the charge and oversight of : DIRECT [Merriam-Webster]
